Do you have a website for your book? How did you handle setting it up?

I have a website for me, where there’s a blog updated at least three times a week, usually more. There’s a bio page with links to Amnesty International and the Epilepsy Foundation. Each book that is under contract has a page on there saying:

- an audio excerpt,
- a reason why it started
- a telling of why I wrote it
- what it’s about

My friend, Chris Maselli (If you say his name aloud it sounds like Christmas Elli) pretty much made it for me. I didn’t have tons of money to get a professional designer and be all fancy-schmancy, and I think Chris did a super cool job.

It’s at http://www.carriejonesbooks.com

Do you have a website for your book? How did you handle setting it up?

I have a website that is hosted by the Authors Guild. I looked around at a few places and I didn’t want to code it myself or use a html editor, so the AG was a good choice for me. It is easy to navigate, easy to make changes, and looks really good.

Do you have a website for your book? How did you handle setting it up?

I have a website. It was one thing I didn’t mind putting money into when it came to promotion.

I went around to various author sites of books similiar to mine in vibe and flavor. I kept notes of the different functions I wanted. It wasn’t until I visited Ally Carter’s website that I found a designer I believed could give me the feel I wanted for the site. I was excited to learn that the designer, Xuni.com, specializes in author sites. That was great because it took a lot of burden off me.

As authors we already have to do a lot of leg work on our own. So it’s nice to turn the reigns of the web design and maintenance over to someone else.

Do you have a website for your book? How did you handle setting it up?

I created my first website for my art and writing ten years ago.
It’s a work in progress and I tweak it constantly.

Here’s what I have so far, besides my art and info about the ELLIE McDOODLE book:
- a sketchblog of adventures with my 9 year old daughter (my book’s Ellie is 11)
- free downloads with more coming soon
- a Famous Authors Series — sketches of 33+ famous authors doing school visits.
- sketchbooks of my trips to the SCBWI National Conferences in NYC
- frequently-asked questions by kids and advice for other writers
- school visit information

Coming soon: A teacher’s guide and reviews

Do you have a website for your book? How did you handle setting it up?

My author website at www.jonisensel.com includes a separate page for each book, with information about what inspired it. As they come in, I’ll add reviews (no promises to post any bad ones!). I have parents’ guides to my picture books available for download, and once REALITY LEAK is out, I’ll be adding perks for readers, such as I.I.I.I.I. membership cards. I’d like to use the book’s secret code tie-in to run a reader contest, too, but we’ll see if I can pull that off.

I’m learning HTML so I can maintain the site myself, and it’s kind of addictive. Revisions to websites are much more fun, IMO, than revisions to manuscripts!

Do you have a website for your book? How did you handle setting it up?

My Web site is under construction at www.tiffany-trent.com. Theo Black, the amazingly talented illustrator and graphic designer (and husband of Holly Black) is my Webmaster.

Mirrorstone will also be building a Hallowmere Web site for the book series, which will include all kinds of goodies that I can hopefully discuss in more detail later. Right now, we’re just brainstorming, but I have to say—the ideas are pretty darn cool. :)

Do you have a website for your book? How did you handle setting it up?

Yes — http://www.sarahbethdurst.com

It’s been really fun to have a website. I’ve also started a blog (http://sarahbethdurst.blogspot.com) and a MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/sarahbethdurst). I’ve met a whole bunch of really cool people through my sites, and I’m hoping to meet lots more. (Hint, hint — if I haven’t met you yet, come say hi!)

Do you have a website for your book? How did you handle setting it up?

I have an author website which my daughter and I designed and then my brother-in-law fixed. It was a great learning experience and a good family project, but I do hope to have it professionally redesigned at some point, down the road.

Do you have a website for your book? How did you handle setting it up?

I have website at www.thatchertheauthor.com. I mostly use it to post about sports. Not professional sports though. I would rather write 10,000 words about a ping-pong game I won in junior high or why I like my soccer team so much. Right now I’m posting about the history of baseball in the northwest as I read about it for the follow-up to TOBY WHEELER.

Do you have a website for your book? How did you handle setting it up?

I have a website that I put together myself. Nothing fancy, but I am proud of it. (Although it is still under construction.) The best part is checking to see if anyone has signed into my guestbook and who they are and where they’re from, what they want to say. I started it to reach out to my readers, and to have some fun. I hope everyone stops by!

Do you have a website for your book? How did you handle setting it up?

I have an author website at www.ericluper.com. Being that this is my first novel, the website is overwhelmingly about BIG SLICK. The website has excerpts from the book, information about the novel, recent blog entries from my blog, and links to some great sites about writing.

Web design has been a major undertaking. It’s almost a full-time job on its own! But it’s also fun.

Do you have a website for your book? How did you handle setting it up?

I did reserve the domain, www.revengeofthehomecomingqueen.com and it goes automatically to my author page at www.stephaniehale.com I toyed with the idea of setting up a small page, but figured I’d be better off directing traffic to the main page. I do have a website in my sequel for a contest and if the editor allows me to leave it in, I plan to set up a special page about the contest.

Do you have a website for your book? How did you handle setting it up?

I have a basic author website at www.saharazin.com. I built it myself and got input on it from my pals on Verla Kay’s message board. I appreciate any feedback anyone wants to give. Building a website was a big accomplishment (and headache) for me.

Do you have a website for your book? How did you handle setting it up?

Sure do! http://laurabowers.net

After months of procrastinating—okay, a year—I forced myself to find a web designer last December who was fantastic. (www.kickassdesign.com.) She did the grunt work to make it pretty and I added all my info and pictures myself using Word Press. I’m so happy with the way it turned out, and how I can maintain it myself, rather than rely on someone else to do it. I also did my own MySpace page (after more procrastination,) www.myspace.com/laura_bowers. Stop by and visit some time!
